The Refugee Camp in my Neighbourhood is a simulated refugee camp situated in the grounds of the Auburn Centre for Community from 1 -12 August 2016. It aims to raise awareness about human rights and celebrate the contributions refugees make in our local community.
Interactive Tours for Health Staff: Refugee Camp in My Neighbourhood
ORGANISE for you and your team to take a health-specific tour of the Refugee Camp in my Neighbourhood, a simulated refugee camp in Auburn.
Through the tour you’ll experience the journey of a refugee and gain a better understanding of the challenges they face as they arrive in Australia.
Tours are delivered by guides from a range of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, and refugee health staff.
This interactive tour will help you:
- Understand how the refugee experience can impact on well-being
- Develop your understanding of risk factors for this group
- Develop strategies to improve access and your ability to engage effectively with people from a refugee background.
Each tour equates to 2 CPD hours/points* *subject to the requirements of your accrediting body
Tours take 2 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes before start time.
